Dermapen (Skin Needling)

We all have skin issues that affect our confidence, whether its fine lines around the eyes, a dull complexion or maybe acne scars and stretch marks. Dermapen is the perfect treatment to help tackle those issues safely without too much discomfort or downtime and achieve results without looking unnatural and obvious.

The purpose of this treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer and more toned skin.

The
problem

Photo-damaged and ageing skin. Facial and décolletage lines and wrinkles. Acne scarring. Stretch marks.

The
procedure

Local anaesthetic cream will be applied 45 minutes prior to treatment to numb the skin so you will remain comfortable throughout. The actual treatment will take about 45 minutes depending on the area of skin thats being treated.

The Dermapen also known as eDermastamp consists of a hand piece with needle cartridge and uses micro skin needles which glide over the skin with smooth movement. This action creates thousands of micro needle columns in the skin which then close very quickly and start the process whereby the skin starts repairing the tiny damaged areas. The insertion of the needles stimulates the cells in the skin needed for renewal such as keratinocytes, fibroblasts and growth factors which encourage the production of new collagen and renew and repair the skin layers.

After the treatment your skin will remain red, looking a lot like moderate sunburn for around 24-36 hours. Your practitioner may apply Control Tactics, a soothing and calming gel, following your procedure and you will continue to use this at home until the redness subsides.

It is extremely important to use a broad spectrum SPF50 every day (especially post treatment) to provide UVA/UVB protection for your skin.

The recommended treatment course is usually 3 treatments about 6 weeks apart.

You can even continue the benefits of skin needling at home with the Genuine Dermaroller Home Roller. This device uses much shorter needles to stimulate the epidermis, the top level of skin, to improve texture, tone and fine lines. You can use this in between your in-clinic treatments to enhance results, and because the needles are much shorter there’s no need to apply anaesthetic cream.
